New Jersey Licensing for Dental Assistants
New Jersey Dental Assistants must possess a license as a “Dental x-ray technologist” means a person, other than a licensed practitioner, whose practice of radiologic technology is limited to intraoral radiography for diagnostic purposes only. Licensure is regulated by the Department of Environmental Protection, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 26:2D-24 et seq. Information on obtaining a dental x-ray license can be found on the Bureau’s website.
Registered Dental Assistant
Regulated by the New Jersey Board of Dentistry, the Board recognizes unregistered dental assistants and registered dental assistants. The scope of practice for each type of assistant is published in the
